The Speed of Summer

It was probably during middle school that i can last remember summers ever really causing things to “slow down” and yet, every year, I fool myself into thinking, “Oh, things will slow down during the summer.” Nope.

I mean, sure, stuff at church slows down a little but mostly because everyone is traveling, my family included, which sort of proves my point. Things do not slow down during the summer. There is certainly less of a routine but people are no less busy, maybe even more-so. The fact that most school-aged kids now only have up to 8 weeks of summer break forces families to do “all the things” with just a small window of time and all of a sudden, the speed of summer can’t be slow.

I am not saying this is a good or bad thing, just the way it is. I need to try and remember that as next summer rolls around, I should not fool myself into thinking the lazy days of summer are actually a thing.

With that said, I hope everyone is having a great and safe summer! Expect more posts once things slow down…
